Meet John Boyle, Lead Mechanical Engineer for our turnstile product line, based out of our Lillington, NC manufacturing facility. John and the entire engineering team understand that safety and security are a critical element of every facility. That’s why they never stop testing our entrance solutions to ensure they work reliably and effortlessly (and “play well” with other technologies). They also create project-specific drawings to ensure the entrance you purchase is the same entrance delivered to your site.

Project-Specific Submittal Drawings

You’ve decided on specific entrance solution that best fits the goals of your organization. What’s the next step in the process? Our engineering and sales teams work together to create custom, CAD submittal drawings showing your entrance the way it will be installed at the site, whether for a new construction or retrofit project.

You can now visualize the entrance in your space, including location, spacing, connection to adjacent walls, electrical locations, flooring requirements, and more. The drawing will give final dimensions and a list of selected features and options pictured on the entrance solution drawing itself, if possible. The goal? To help you know exactly what to expect when your entrance arrives on site. Once you approve the drawings, the entrances are released to our manufacturing facility.

Research and Development

While one division of our Engineering Team works on project-specific drawings, the other focuses on product research and development with the goal of constantly improving our products based on the needs of the market. Once feedback is received from the field regarding product installation and operation, our engineering team gets to work making improvements. Some past improvements include:

  • Registering and working to get our products UL-certified at the factory.
  • Updating the internal mechanism of our full height and tripod turnstiles for quieter operation
  • Standardizing the height of lighting and buttons across products for accessibility.
  • Enhancing our all-glass Crystal doors to enable remote locking and access control integration for limiting access during evening hours.

In addition, our R&D testing lab continuously runs endurance tests on our products to ensure they will last a long time in the field.
