The Tourniket was the first revolving door we manufactured; created in 1903, the Tourniket was originally constructed mainly from timber and had to be operated manually. Since then its construction and the technology within have evolved into a sophisticated and intelligent revolving door. This manual or automatic revolving door is still at the basis of many of the special projects we are involved in as it is an incredibly versatile entry solution. Its engineering quality has been proven again and again in many different buildings and projects.

The Manual or Automatic Revolving Door

Our original manual or automatic revolving door, the Tourniket, has evolved into a sophisticated, intelligent entrance solution. This manual automatic revolving door is still the basis of many of the special projects we are involved in, as it is an incredibly versatile entry solution. Its engineering quality has repeatedly been proven in prestigious projects around the world.

The Tourniket offers a range of features and options to adapt to diverse building requirements. It can be customised to match the building's design with various materials, finishes, and colours. The door is available in different configurations and sizes, making it suitable for spaces of varying traffic volumes and spatial constraints.

The Tourniket comes in three-wing and four-wing versions. The three-wing version provides a spacious compartment for added comfort, while the four-wing version offers a wider day opening and efficient passage in two directions simultaneously. Both versions can be collapsed to create a wide escape route during emergencies.

A Sustainable Solution

Revolving doors are the most energy-efficient entrance solutions available today. The always open, always closed principle of a revolving door ensures that the conditioned inside air and the unconditioned outside air remain separated, preventing draught, dust and noise from coming into the building. As less energy is required to maintain the conditioned climate inside the building, revolving doors help reduce the carbon footprint of a building and save both energy and cost.

The same effect can be reached by installing a draught lobby but for draught lobbies with conventional sliding or swinging doors to be truly effective, the entrance and exit doors of the lobby can never be open at the same time. This means that users are often required to wait in the draught lobby for the next door to open, causing frustration and a feeling of being unwelcome. The advantage of revolving doors is that they save energy while facilitating a continuous flow of people.

Putting Priority on Safety and Security

Security in an entry has two different aspects: the security of the building and the safety of its users. The Tourniket complies with the strictest safety regulations.

Safety Sensors in the door wings and in the frame ensure that the door responds to users and objects, minimising, or even preventing, impact with the user. The door behaviour can be customised to suit your building’s requirements. Such requirements could be based on your priority for safety or throughput taking into account various user groups ranging from professionally trained users to locations where people with special needs form a large part of the user profile such as children and elderly people.

We offer the following additional safety measures:

  • BoonAssist: PPS - a control system that helps the user during pushing (power assisted), positions automatically to the rest position (positioning), and limits the speed during pushing (speed control).
  • Accessibility buttons
  • Contrasting stickers with safety icons on the door wings and curved walls
  • Sensors with laser technology
  • Block detection
  • Emergency stop and / or open buttons
  • CE plus package

The front entrance to a public building, such as a hotel, office building, condominium, or municipal building should also include security options. Whether there is an unwanted guest immediately outside the door, or the facility manager is locking up for the night, revolving door security options allow for an added layer of protection.

We offer the following additional security measures:

  • RC3 Burglar protection package
  • Automated or manual locking options
  • External automatic shield doors (night locking)
  • Security lockdown for immediate action
  • Access control options

The Accessibility of the Tourniket

The Tourniket offers enhanced accessibility with larger three-wing versions and an auto-folding option for small lobbies. It creates a wide, unobstructed passage for wheelchairs and trolleys. The auto-folding door wing is activated using a disable push button. Aided by visual and audio signals, the door wings reach a stationary position before one wing automatically folds back to allow a barrier free passage.

This feature is possible in various diameters starting from 2400 mm.
