Reducing energy usage is at the cradle of Boon Edams’ revolving door. Being green is part of Boon Edams’ DNA. We reflect upon the past and take this forward to the future. We focus on our successes and drive forward through our commitments, our care and our innovation.

Our Sustainability Performance Program was born. In this program we set-up the fundamentals to deliver our sustainability ambition.
Why Sustainability Matters to Boon Edam
Our products are part of buildings, security and facilities all over the world. Our customers are taking their responsibility and changing to a more sustainable development. We are changing with them and support opportunities, challenges and new obligations our value chain is facing.
Legal Requirements Driving Sustainability
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is upon us now as is the expansion of the Ecodesign directive. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is in 2026. The EU Digital Product Passport will follow. More and more CO2 and energy reporting and reducing expectations need to be met.
Getting Factual About Sustainability Performance
Boon Edam cannot deliver our stakeholders requirements if we do not get factual. Regarding our product, our material, our processes and throughout our value chain / supply chain. Our sustainability performance depends on the sustainability performance (and facts) of our supply chain and we are not in the position to accept insufficient performance (lack of facts/evidence).
Measuring Sustainability With GSES
Boon Edam decided to use the Global Sustainable Enterprise System (GSES) to ‘present’ our Sustainability Performance. For our entire company (enterprise) and for our Supply Chain. This system was chosen because it has external validation rather than internal. To make our efforts visible, we require our Suppliers to provide us with sufficient information. Using GSES. Once information is in GSES, other users can see it. It can be used for other suppliers / customers besides Boon Edam.
Setting Sustainability Priorities
Using our first sustainability rating and our double materiality assessment we did priority setting. We are very aware we are only a link in our value chain and supply chain. To make a real difference we need to cooperate with partners. That specific UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG17) together with our people (SDG4), product (SDG11 and SDG13) and process (SDG12 and SDG13) focus are incorporated in our internal scopes. Safety & health, Value preservation and CO2 footprint.
Gathering Material Data
Our stakeholders need Boon Edam to declare its’ product and its’ impact. Including materials, manufacturing, transport, usage etc. We will be questioning all our suppliers to gather the required facts. REACh, RoHS and SHVC compliance needs to be confirmed and made factual. Additionally we will investigate our Scope 3 (GHG protocol) as part of our CO2 performance accreditation.
Targets 2024 and 2025
For the coming years we have defined targets for the priorities set, which we will measure in GSES. For our enterprise and our Supply Chain. We expect our suppliers to at least meet our enterprise targets.
These targets are measured on the GSES platform. They are not specific quantified targets. Those are measured separately.
2024 Program Focus
In 2024 we will focus on gathering facts and setting our foundation for our:
- Product footprint (material, transport, etc.)
- Sustainable Procurement (using GSES)
- Health & Safety (with a focus on expertise: training and skills)
