Sustainable Entrance Solutions.
As much as 50% of air loss in buildings occurs around windows and doors. Although revolving doors offer the most effective protection against air loss, there is always room for improvement. Since 2013, all revolving doors manufactured by Boon Edam feature advanced sensors, LED lighting, and higher-quality door brush strips for improved energy efficiency. However, any doors that pre-date 2013 will likely have a higher energy consumption. As a result, we offer sustainable entrance upgrades for older doors to improve performance and reduce daily energy costs.
One Direction Motion Sensors.
Automatic revolving doors utilise sensors that detect when a user is approaching. When the sensors are activated, it triggers the rotation of the door, allowing visitors to pass through unhindered. However, conventional sensors cannot differentiate between a user entering and exiting or simply passing in front of the door, which can cause unnecessary rotations and wasted energy.
Our sophisticated one-direction motion sensor detects the walking direction of users, ensuring the door only rotates when the user is exiting or entering the building. This prevents unnecessary door rotation when not in use and stops the rotation quicker after use. As a result, customers can benefit from energy savings, lower maintenance costs, and reduced heat and air loss.
Save Energy with LED Lighting.
Lighting adds to the aesthetic appeal of a revolving door. With the introduction of LED lighting, we can now help you improve the sustainability of your entrance and save considerable energy costs. There are two main advantages of LED lights, A) they consume 50-80% less energy than standard halogen lights, and B) they have a life span of up to 50,000 hours, 15 times longer than the alternative.
Our choice of LED lighting upgrades includes:
- Replacement LED lights that can fit into the standard halogen armature.
- Replacement LED armature that can fit into the space previously used by the halogen armature.
Door Brush Strips for Better Climate Control.
One of the main reasons revolving doors suffer from air infiltration is because of the gaps between the door wings and the drum wall. Although it is impossible to prevent air loss altogether, our horsehair brush strips can effectively close gaps, helping you to protect your building against uncontrolled air infiltration. We can install new brush seals or replace worn brush strips around the revolving doorset to reduce air and heat loss and prevent draughts, pests, dust and leaves from entering your lobby or reception.
The natural fibre of a horsehair brush strip provides a better and more substantial seal than a common rubber seal and can improve air tightness by 30%. Our new, slim revolving door brush strips have unique nylon, horsehair, and rubber interlayer for increased protection against heat loss, weathering, dirt, and noise.
