Air Curtains - Climate Control.
In terms of energy savings, the use of a revolving door in your entrance is the most effective entrance solution. Air curtains have been developed specifically for revolving doors to maintain this effect at the entrance. This gives you the opportunity to decrease energy consumption even more by reducing heat loss in the winter and stabilising air-conditioned areas in the summer.
How Air Curtains Work
In most cases, air curtains are installed above entryways. They create a barrier of air over the revolving door. By essentially separating two environments, inside and outside, they maintain heating and keep out the cold (or vice versa). The air curtain houses a coil which cools or heats the jet of air. The temperature of the jets of air are adjusted to feel comfortable as you enter through the entrance of the revolving door.
Because air curtains create an invisible barrier between two areas, they help to keep out:
- The summer heat
- The winter cold
- Dust
- Insects
- Smoke
- Bad odours
- Exhaust gas
Air Curtains for Increased Sustainability
A revolving door including heater can put a stop to cold drafts. While air curtains are mostly associated with moderating temperatures, they’re also economic and offer a money saving solution for buildings. They can do this in a number of ways:
- By fixing unwanted climate changes within the entrance area
- By separating indoor temperatures from outdoor climates
- By working through the winter and summer months
Installation Requirements for Air Curtains
Air curtains work by installing the system horizontally or vertically. A horizontal installation is either integrated in the canopy or installed at the top of a revolving door. Another option is vertical installation which blows air in from the sides. When specifying for an air curtain there will be a space requirement. Air curtains can be installed in any form, from small door diameters to canopy implementations. Before specifying, you need to consider:
- The size of the air curtain
- Power of the air curtain
- Position of the air curtain (keep in mind door opening sizes)
- Location of the revolving door
- Type of building
- Climate considerations
Air Curtain Solutions
We understand revolving doors can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, which is why we offer a range of air curtain solutions.
OmniVent V - Vertical Air Curtain
The OmniVent V is a revolutionary patented air curtain. Due to the special Jet Flow high pressure chamber, only a minimal amount of warm air is required to achieve the desired result. This air curtain is positioned vertically on the door and is directly adjacent to the opening of the revolving door. The OmniVent V is extremely suitable as an adjustment to an existing situation. The OmniVent V can be mounted on the end post of the door, but can also be placed as a stand-alone unit. The OmniVent V is suitable for revolving doors with a diameter of up to six meters.
OmniVent C - Circular Air Curtain
The OmniVent C is a circular air curtain for revolving doors that covers the entire throat opening. This type of air curtain can be integrated in or on the canopy of a revolving door with 2, 3 or 4 door wings. It has a top, bottom or front side suction via a suction chamber, dependent on the mounting option. It can be mounted in 4 ways; surface mounted, built in, ceiling or floor mounted.
OmniVent I - Integration Air Curtain
The OmniVent I is specially designed for full integration into the revolving door canopy. The discharge grille is adjustable by 15 degrees and is located in the ceiling of the revolving door at the throat opening of the door. The OmniVent I is suitable for revolving doors with a diameter of up to 3.8 meters.
