Invisible Secure Operation Sequence
As the visitor approaches, the optical turnstile comes to life. A pulse of light travels along the unit drawing the eye up. A modern arrow symbol directs the user through, as a panel lights up within the smooth black curved glass top, inviting the user to present a valid ‘pass’; a ‘pass’ is presented, and upon authorisation, the visitor is easily guided through as the pulse of light travels across the lane. The cycle is completed, and the speed gate is ready for its next visitor. The system allows for reliable detection of unauthorised users at the same time. After a set idle period (without any user engagement), the Lifeline Speedlane Open will fall back to sleep to save energy.
Level Up
One size does not fit all and therefore the Lifeline Speedlane Open is highly customisable. This opens up a world of opportunities to create your own tailored speed gate turnstile. To see the possibilities, download the Lifeline Speedlane Open brochure.

Columbia College
Location: Chicago, USA Product: Lifeline Speedlane Open and Tourniket Manual Revolving Door
The new Student Center at Columbia College Chicago, located at 754 South Wabash Avenue in Chicago, opened its doors in the fall of 2019. This brand-new building offers five spectacular stories of spaces for students including music and film-screening rooms, dining options, a fitness center, a reflection room for meditation and prayer, and event spaces for meetings, performances, and receptions. Columbia College Chicago has a closed campus. In order to enter any building on campus students and staff must have a Columbia ID or visitors must have a valid appointment. The main entrance at the Student Center is the Tourniket revolving door that leads to a public foyer that includes a coffee shop and lounge. Since the speed gates are just past the security desk at the boundary of this area, they serve as a visual and physical indicator of where the public area terminates.
Facial Recognition Access Control
Touchless Biometric Authentication System
One of the major advantages of facial recognition access control is not having to wait at the point of entry. The software registers a person's face as they approach and can determine whether to allow access in the time needed to arrive at the gate. When the authorised person is near or at the access point, the system opens the gate. This prevents unauthorised individuals from slipping in through the open gate. Also, the person can proceed smoothly through the access point. Boon Edam's products support most third-party facial recognition systems to facilitate a touchless entrance.

Not All Security is Equal
Boon Edam Offers Scalable Security Levels
When it comes to physical security entrances, there are some different options available to choose from – high security portals, security revolving doors, speed gates, full-height and tripod turnstiles. These options vary greatly in their capabilities and can confuse security managers looking to secure their facilities from risk. To assist professionals in selecting the right entrance solution, we have categorised security entrances by their level of security, as it relates to tailgating mitigation. Is the goal: tailgating deterrence (low security level), detection (medium security level) or complete prevention (high security level).
