Boon Edam’s speed gates alone are already an effective solution for detecting unauthorised entry attempts. Combined with a Schindler PORT destination control system for elevators, overall building security and efficiency can be greatly improved. This combination of technology is known in the market as 'The Power of Two'.

The importance of speed gates in larger office or mixed use buildings encouraged PORT to redefine the meaning of “seamless” to its pinnacle. The integrated PORT device (PORT 4 mini) in the Boon Edam speed gate provides users with early elevator allocation information from the industry’s leading destination algorithm. Ultimately, it is the result of a common goal and continuous conscious selection of material, surface and light effects which brought a meticulously blended and harmonic user experience.

Key Benefits of Integrating the PORT 4 mini into the Lifeline Speedlane Swing

  • Enhanced building security
  • Seamless transfer of people in buildings
  • Maximised efficiency of elevators
  • Energy-saving through smart eco mode
  • Optimisation of elevator journey time through applied Schindler PORT algorithm

Touchless, Seamless and Secure

Schindler has revolutionised the elevator industry with the PORT destination control. Especially suited to large elevator groups or straight-line configurations in heavy-traffic commercial buildings, this PORT technology can increase handling capacity and reduce travel times – each by up to 35%. Crowding is also dramatically reduced in both in the lobby and inside the car itself, by allocating passengers to individual floors at controlled, efficient times. The user never has to touch a thing, the entire journey is done using intuitive sensors and their personal smartphone.

Working Principle of Two Technologies as One

Boon Edam's Lifeline Speedlane Swing speed gate comes supplied with a smooth, premium glass cabinet which houses the PORT 4 mini’s interface. Unlike other solutions, the Power of Two is not just one technology placed on or within the other – both are truly embedded together. They function as a single unit, with a unique communication protocol.

Once the speed gate is activated by an approaching person, if they are authorised, the LED lights then glide across the cabinet top, using movement and colour to clearly show the user what to do next. This same signal then speaks directly and harmoniously to the PORT technology and access control system, the circular display lights up and pulses to show the user where to present their credentials. This can be via key or touchless access via a smartphone. The PORT 4 mini is tailored to be used with RFID cards or the smartphone-based application "myPORT", and visitor access is managed remotely via "video-colour-code".

Tailgating Detection at its Finest

The beautifully designed speed gate acts as a boundary between public and secure environments; and does so with finesse. Tailgating is effectively detected by a superior sensor system, and the aesthetics can be easily adjusted to either blend in or stand out, depending on your needs. The combination of intuitive and accurate security and the transit intelligence allows you to seamless travel throughout the building. The journey is quick, secure, and convenient. Via an additional visitor management systems, authorised users can manage and create digital invitations (SMS) or use their mobile device as a video intercom to speak directly with visitors. myPORT’s user-friendly, customisable features can be adapted to both commercial and residential projects.
