The Circlelock High Security Portal Celebrates 35 Years
Edam, the Netherlands, July 2019 – Royal Boon Edam International is proud to announce the 35th anniversary of the launch of the company’s well-known Circlelock high security portal. First built and put into the market in 1984, demand for this specialised entrance solution continues to grow in a variety on sensitive industries such as data centres, government and military as well as commercial facilities.
Facilitating the Intent of Multi-Factor Authentication
The Circlelock owes its longevity to its ability to deliver on the true intent of multi-factor authentication, which is that only one person can enter into a secure area. The portal can integrate with any access control system and biometric scanning technologies can be mounted inside the portal on an optional, supportive post.
A user is then able to present one credential to enter the portal (which scans the interior to be sure the user is alone) and then present their face, iris, fingerprint, or hand to confirm their identity before the second door opens.
Preventing Piggybacking with Sophisticated Technology
The Circlelock combines premium construction with the intelligence of a sophisticated, near-infrared detection technology housed in the ceiling, called StereoVision. When a user steps into the portal, StereoVision scans the compartment to verify that a user is alone before allowing them to enter a secure facility. This technology has been enhanced continuously over the decades and today is able to function reliably in a wide variety of lighting environments. Its trusted performance over the years has proven to be the most accurate way to prevent piggybacking into a secure area. With StereoVision the security settings can be fine-tuned to achieve an optimal acceptance and rejection ratio based on event data of the actual user group, ensuring a smooth but secure access.
Easier Installation than Conventional Portals
Unlike conventional, site-built portals, Boon Edam’s Circlelock high security portal is a fully tested, turnkey solution that can be installed in two days. There is no need for mounting sensors or cameras and continually testing to check for blind spots. In addition, the seamlessly integrated hardware and software of the Circlelock delivers the highest levels of security without the need for guard supervision, delivering a quick and noticeable ROI. Other popular options today are the use of bullet-resistant and burglar resistant glass for the cylindrical walls and sliding doors to level up even more on your entrance security.
“Over the past few years we have seen a growing awareness of product usability. High security doors must be secure above all else, but intuitive use, safety and comfort are becoming more and more important” says Dirk Groot, Product Manager Security Doors at Royal Boon Edam International B.V. “In terms of the future, we anticipate the authentication process shifting to contactless biometric systems, and when integrated into our Circlelock being able to guarantee a quick and hassle-free passage”.
Today, the Circlelock addresses the industry’s growing demand for intelligent and automated system solutions that ensure the highest level of physical security with the added advantage of precise data collection for business intelligence, forensics and predictive analysis applications.
